Most founders get this backwards. They start with a grand vision and then go looking for people to believe in it. But according to Avery Pennarun, that’s exactly how you lose. Vision-first thinking often leads to confirmation bias, slow traction, and ultimately building something nobody truly needs.
The better approach is far simpler and far more effective: start with real people who have real problems. Talk to them, understand their pain, and build something that directly solves it. Then test it immediately. Tight feedback loops with a small, specific group will keep you from wasting time and guide you toward true product-market fit.
